Community Outreach

Christ has called us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Through our tithes and offerings, we send missionaries around the world, yet we sometimes forget the community we live in. First Baptist Church Ashland has joined with the Dover Baptist Association and 25 other Dover churches to sow and reap in our own communities in a new way. To help local churches in their efforts, Dover has agreed to develop a training program, a consultant program and a $250,000 media campaign to run in late 2010 and early 2011. (More details about this later.) For our part, we have agreed to start “one new thing” – a new ministry to reach the people in our community. Discover what our “one new thing” is in next week’scolumn.

Needs and Seeds

This Needs and Seeds column is an effort to connect people in need withinour community with what they need. If
you have goods or services that you would like to donate to a neighbor inneed, just call or send an email to the
church on any Wednesday morning with your item or service, your name, telephone number and/or email address. Your item will appear in the next FOCUS. If you know of a neighbor that is in need of something special – a washing machine, a ride to the doctors, a babysitter, send that notice to church also. The object of this column is to connect the folks that “have” with the folks that “need”. In doing so, we’ll be sowing seeds of love and witness.
